Our tours range from a few hours to several days . They fall in a spectrum of categories: cultural, historical, nature-based , and those with some of everything.
As our offerings veer away from the mainstream, regular tourist guides do not always suit our purpose. Our guides are often either professionals in another field, or engaged in activities not directly related to tourism . So when they take you around, it is because they have an abiding interest in the subject of the trip, and would enjoy sharing it with you.
We don’t take out big groups . This way, the experience for our fellow travellers is more personalised and relaxed.
Most of our tours are off regular travel circuits, which means that accommodation options can sometimes be limited . However, you can be sure they will be interesting. For each outing, we ensure you are well informed on what to expect.
The ecological well-being of our planet is very important to us. We take care to minimise our carbon footprint through eco-friendly practices, and encourage our associates to do the same.
We try that our tours benefit local communities to the maximum. To that end, we prefer to use locally rooted properties , whenever possible. The final choice obviously rests with our guests.
Travel is as much about people as about places. We try to build in opportunities into our itineraries for meaningful engagement between clients and local people and organisations .
History: Monuments The Archaeological Survey of India protects about 3650 ancient monuments and sites spread all over India. However, this is a small fraction of India’s architectural heritage. The Indian National Trust For Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), a non-profit organization, has identified more than 60,000 such sites across some of the country’s major cities. This list is well short of being comprehensive. Thousands more treasures lie scattered, itching to be explored.
History: Culture and Craft The history of Indian art and craft goes back 5000 years. Some forms are extinct, while some that survive are endangered. More than 650 traditional crafts and textiles, including folk and tribal forms, have been identified so far. Besides there are myriad traditional forms in music, dance, theatre and other performing arts.
Nature India has 12 major river systems. The Ganga, besides being the holiest river, is also the largest. It is the lifeline of northern India and is fed by many tributaries.
A little less than 25 per cent of the Indian land mass is ‘recorded forest area’. Within it are forests of various kinds, and close to 100 national parks and 500 wildlife sanctuaries. Only a small percentage of these wildernesses are on the tourist circuit.
