Nirad Grover graduated in History from New Delhi's St Stephen's College, and went to flight school in the USA. In 1993, he entered the breezy field of travel photojournalism. A particularly close association was with Traveler's India, a U.S.-based quarterly. Besides this, he has written for newspapers, magazines and guide books, delivered talks and visual shows, and undertaken pioneering expeditions on some of India's great rivers. A major part of Nirad's work has consisted of developing books. The subjects include Indian and world history, culture, wildlife and other subjects. He is the author of
Manjeev Bhalla, a commerce graduate from a top college, swerved off track early on in life. He discovered a talent for making quick calculations at high speed and used it to win car rallies. In 1999, an abiding passion for motor sports led him to co-devise the Raid de Himalaya, which runs over some of the highest and most rugged terrain in the world, and is now a cult event. His second occupation is running a world-class helicopter skiing operation, in existence for the last 15 years. Based in a picturesque Himalayan valley, Himalayan Heli Adventures attracts top-end clientele from across the globe.
Jagan Shah studied architecture and architectural history and theory at the School of Planning & Architecture, the University of Cincinnati, and Columbia University in New York. He mainly divides time between technical consultancy in urban planning and architecture, writing and teaching, and has in the past been deeply involved with film-making and theater.
What excites Jagan most is Indian architecture and urban development, seen against a broad background of modern architecture in Asia. He is a core member of the 'modern Asian Architecture Network' (www.m-aan.org), co-editor of round (round.acetate-ed.net), a journal of writings on Asian architecture, author of Contemporary Indian Architecture and co-author, with Satish Grover, of Building Beyond Borders.
Prabeen Singh's belief in causes has led her to work on issues related to the rights of women, eunuchs and HIV/AIDS. Besides being a founder member of a women's resource centre, and an organization promoting the interests of crafts people, she has designed and implemented economic programmes for the rural poor, and worked on eco tourism projects. Travelling, textiles, music, literature, art and bird watching are this lady's avid interests. Cooking is her passion. Well known for her great personal style and cultivated cuisine, she writes on food, delivers talks, has appeared on television, and does cooking demonstrations and lectures for visitors seeking an insight into the "inexorably intertwined" food and culture of India.
Nalini Tiwari's first chance to visit the land of her ancestors came in 2007. A psychology major from Columbia University, she had lived in the USA most of her life, and by then, had accumulated 20 years of marketing experience. In between, she led tours on the Old Silk Route in Asia, and on opera, art and architecture in Russia. Nalini grabbed her Indian opportunity enthusiastically, first running Sunshine Tourism, an established company in New Delhi, and then becoming the U.S. country head for Yatra.com, a leading Indian travel consolidator. With an appreciative understanding of the cultures of both countries, she fits naturally in to her marketing role at India Offtrack.
